I love racking my brain for fresh ideas that no one has ever thought of , as soon as inspiration hits, I immediately go to Pinterest and Google images to see if see if anyone else has already claimed the genius prize, most of the time someone already has, heavy sigh… the proverb, “there’s nothing new under the sun” comes to mind. I guess that’s because we all have creative genius inside! I was playing around with Halloween costume ideas when the concept for these boots popped into my brain, I soon discovered that many other people have come up with this fun idea too! There are several different styles of skeleton footwear on the web, check out all the options by googling this concept, and if you don’t want to DIY your own, you can buy them pre-made but if you are a DIY obsessed person like me, no worries I created a step-by-step video tutorial just for you!.
I purchased my boots at a thrift store they were five dollars they came in my size and they’re leather… score! Look for a pair of boots that are simple in design, and not too slouchy, you also want a slick surface like leather, pleather or vinyl. I looked at several different images for skeleton feet and finally my awesome assistant Claire sketched one out for me. you can download the free template here,

I used three coats of white acrylic paint and one coat of
Tulip brand glow-in-the-dark paint and a white paint pen. You can purchase all of the products I used at
Michael’s Craft Store. A few tips for creating these boots… – Stuff your boots with paper so you have a wrinkle free surface to work on. – keep a Q-tip and fingernail polish remover close by so that you can quickly correct any mistakes. – use a good-quality fine tip brush with firm bristles, this will give you more control for tiny details. -the template will need to be enlarged to fit your specific shoe size, I took my boots with me to the copy store so that I could get the perfect shape. I’m giving these skeleton boots away to one of my YouTube subscribers! (they are size 7.5) To enter the giveaway, make sure you are subscribed to my
Youtube channel, share this video with a friend and leave a comment telling me what you would pair these boots with! I will announce the winner in next week’s video.
Happy Creating and Happy Halloween!
Sincerely, Debi
