Or you can simply purchase the kit to make this Mermaid tiara here, it comes with instructions, link to video, all the supplies (except glue gun) and packaged in a beautiful box, to give as a gift or to keep.
What I love most about Fall is the crispy warm air, the beautiful colors and getting ready for Halloween!
IMO the very best thing about this holiday is the candy, and crafting up a great costume! I have so many fun ideas running through my head for this season’s tutorials, I thought I’d better start now so I have half a chance of getting at least some of them posted.
I have a new video this week, that I am super excited to share with you, how to turn a dollar store tiara, into a fabulous mermaid crown. I think the transformation is pretty remarkable!
Yes I created this mermaid tiara from a plastic crown that I found at the dollar store, you can also find higher end versions in the bridal section at Michael’s Craft supply or your local party shop.
The key ingredient for this project is metallic pipe cleaner, you can also pick this up at any craft store, and I have seen it at the dollar store on occasion as well.
The pipe cleaner will enable you to create a very strong bond with the hot glue so that your seashells will not come off while you dance, (or swim ) the night away.
Start by covering the entire surface area of the tiara with pipe cleaner, wrap it as tightly as you can, weaving it in, out, and around all the curves and then you will be ready to embellish your seashells.
I added rhinestone chain and vintage jewelry to my shells before hot gluing them on the tiara, I find that E6000 is the best adhesive for adding rhinestones to seashells however, Aileen’s tacky glue or other brands of jewelry glue will probably work well also.
Once your seashells are all dolled up, you are ready to start attaching them with your hot glue gun. This project takes about an hour to complete and is pretty easy to make. If you are not up for making one yourself I am giving away the one I made in my video, to enter the giveaway subscribe to my YouTube channel , share this with a friend and leave me a comment letting me know what you plan to be for Halloween! I’m going to announce the winner of the Mermaid Tiara next week! I will shout it out, here on my blog, on my Facebook page and in my next video!
I just added the super fabulous rhinestone chain to my online shop, I sell this sparkly stuff by the yard as well as by the bolt. I have personally used several bolts myself and it’s amazing! What girl doesn’t need yards and yards of shimmery rhinestone chain in her craft room?
Have you started thinking about Halloween yet?
Happy Fall Everyone!
Sincerely,
Debi
